Video footage from a Tucson police capturing that left a person useless at a south-side Circle Okay final month was launched Friday by the Pima Regional Essential Incident Crew.

Tucson Police Division SWAT officers had been conducting surveillance Aug. 25 on Francisco Galarza, 49, on the Circle Okay at 6090 S. Park Ave., in relation to energetic felony arrest warrants for dwelling invasion and financial institution theft, police mentioned.


When Galarza got here out of the shop, officers recognized themselves and instructed him to get down on the bottom so they may arrest him. Galarza started to flee from officers and took a black handgun out of his bag, police mentioned.

Officer Barrie Pedersen, a 17-year TPD veteran, launched his K9 associate, Kiro, to apprehend Galarza. Kiro introduced Galarza to the bottom.

Whereas on the bottom, Galarza pointed a firearm at officers, inflicting Officer Ernest Ortiz, a 15-year TPD veteran, and Pedersen to discharge their firearms, police mentioned.
